there's hope

Part of my Global History class group project was to discover and explore decolonization within different areas of the world. I choose to focus on Darfur, Sudan because for some reason one of the worst humanitarian efforts in the history of the world is currently taking place -- and it seems to receive hardly any attention! Many have died from genocide and millions have been forced to relocate, with no guarantee of anything. Many have acknowledged the crisis, including the President of the United States as well as the United Nations. But no one has done anything!! More peace.

a forward from one of my best friends on the west coast

I PROMISE MYSELF

To be so strong that nothing can disturb my peace of mind
To talk health, happiness, and prosperity to every person I meet
To make all my friends feel that there is something worthwhile in them
To Look at the sunny side of everything and make my optimism come true
To think only of the best, to work only for the best and to expect only
the best
To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as I am about my
own
To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater
achievements of the future
To wear a cheerful expression at all times and give a smile to every
living creature I meet
To give so much time to improving myself that I have no time to
criticize others
To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear and
too happy to permit the presence of trouble
To think well of myself and to proclaim this fact to the world, not in
loud words, but in great deeds
To live in the faith that the world is on my side, so long as I am true
to the best that is in me

to thine own self be true.

"This above all: to thine own self be true,
And it must follow, as the night the day,
Thou canst not then be false to any man."
-William Shakespeare

and in my opinion,
love is truth.

Poor Prince..

Prince's depression ended, as you can see in the photo, once he was reunited with his Tyler a.k.a. his father.

Thanksgiving Weekend Pictures!

Central Park view and the 10 dollar hat we bought on the street!

Snowflakes :)

Midtown Christmas Tree!

Central Park

Prince was awfully depressed that his real father wasn't home...

Alli was in the city last weekend and a photo-op was necessary!  Prince is also featured in the photo, although he's not as photogenic as Alli and I.  We managed to squeeze in quite a lot during the long weekend, including Time Square, the Metropolitan Museum, Magnolia Bakery, Plum Restaurant, some midtown shopping and a very long walk through Central Park.  There was also a small bottle of wine spritzer in there at some point.  Lastly, we stopped by Lincoln Center and saw Four Christmases while eating homemade apple pie we bought on the street corner.  It made the weekend complete!  More photos to come..
